What is EMDR Psychotherapy? //


EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy originally developed for the treatment of trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).


EMDR Psychotherapy has been approved and recommended by the World Health Organization as one of the most effective methods for treatment of post-traumatic symptoms.


Besides that, research has shown that EMDR Psychotherapy is useful treating a wide range of traumatic experiences, also back in childhood, such as


  • Bullying
  • Mental and physical abuse
  • Generally harsh upbringing in the family


But also actually triggered traumatic experiences related to


  • Accidents,
  • Violence
  • Rape
  • War experiences etc.


In addition to trauma and PTSD EMDR psychotherapy is effective against a variety of other symptoms such as

 

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Phobias
  • Fear of flying, dentist
  • Self-esteem problems etc.


Recent research indicates that EMDR treatment has a positive effect on emotional overeating and is therefore a promising approach to weight loss. Read more here.
